Annette Bridges
Administrative assistant
After almost thirty years of visiting her parents in Moscow from various locations in Oregon and southern Germany, Annette relocated to the Palouse as well, with her partner and their teenage son. She is pleased to begin providing part-time support to the Palouse Land Trust, an organization she has long admired.
Annette is self-employed as a translator and editor; she holds degrees in languages and literature from Oberlin College and the University of Oregon. Prior to coming to Moscow, she taught ESL, literacy and foreign languages in community and academic settings in Portland and Eugene, Oregon. When she isn't at her desk, she spends as much time as possible outdoors -- hiking and biking, maintaining trails and planting trees in a volunteer capacity, or just puttering in the yard.
Annette's decision to get more involved with conservation planning and easements arose from a variety of experiences, including her family's management of a woodland adjacent to the Hoosier National Forest in Indiana, her awareness that access to Moscow Mountain is essential to the excellent quality of life that we enjoy here in Moscow, her interest in how different countries and cultures interpret the concepts of public and private land, and her 18-year-old son's current studies and employment in the fields of forestry and fire ecology. She is thrilled to begin learning from her co-workers' extensive knowledge about ecological, geographical, economic and legal aspects of conservation on the Palouse.
