From Ava: A bittersweet 'see you later'

As you may know, my husband and I are expecting our second child at the end of March. What an exciting time! With this upcoming addition to our family, a lot of conversations about work-life balance have ensued in our home. During this process, we came to the decision that it is best for my family and for PLT that I step away from my beloved title of Community Lands Steward.

This decision comes with many mixed feelings, including a heavy-heart. I love Palouse Land Trust; our mission, our partners, and all of you have made my experience here incredible. As a Palouse-native, and married into a farming family, this work is near and dear to my heart and always will be. I won't ever be too far and do not intend to be a stranger to the mission and the people.

I did a great deal of internal searching to come to the conclusion that time and space are required for me to adjust to my soon-to-be expanded role of mother, while knowing that PLT requires someone who is in a different season of their life.

I want to thank you immensely for your incredibly welcoming energy over the last 18+ months. It has been a joy being in this position. I am confident PLT is stronger than ever and it has been an honor to weather changes with Lovina and Jaime, two women I hold in the highest esteem.

I will be active until March 7th to support my team during the transition and will remain an avid supporter and if possible, mentor to the new Community Lands Steward. Here’s to finding a truly wonderful human as the next Community Lands Steward.

Let us not see this not as a goodbye, but more as a “see you later.”
