National Trails Day Penstemon Path Hike

Celebrate National Trails day with a free community guided hike at Penstemon Path, one of Moscow’s newest and most beautiful mountain trails! Join AmeriCorps Community Conservation Coordinator, Bailey Pierce for a fun jaunt through the meadows and forested hills of Moscow Mountain. Learn about the creation of the trail, the work of Palouse Land Trust and partner organizations that make cool outdoor spaces like this a reality, and get outside and enjoy connecting with nature.

Penstemon Path offers a unique opportunity to explore the natural wonders of the area while learning about its ecological significance and conservation efforts. As you traverse the picturesque trail, you'll discover an abundance of native flora and fauna, from colorful penstemon flowers to elusive wildlife.

National Trails Day is the perfect occasion to celebrate the importance of trails in connecting communities, preserving nature, and promoting outdoor recreation. Join us as we come together to honor our trails and the invaluable role they play in enhancing our quality of life. This hike is free, family-friendly, and well behaved doggos on leash are welcome. The trail is steep and moderately difficult, so please wear sturdy hiking shoes, hiking poles if you’ve got them, water, and please dress for the weather.

Please gather at the Penstemon Path trailhead located in the upper Idler’s Rest parking lot to the left of the restroom at 1:45 so we can head out at 2pm.
