Partnership at work in the cedar grove

Led by the outstanding team at Idaho Department of Lands, the crew initiated a controlled burn of the slash piles from this summer's Cedar Grove safety project on Wednesday, December 4.

Pile burning allows us to reduce fire fuels and debris in the space while simultaneously improving soil fertility.  With the recent wet weather and relative soil stability, this is the ideal time for conducting a safe and efficient burn!

Piles are still a little smoldery and warm on the morning of December 5, crews will be out in the afternoon to do a final douse to fully extinguish. Don’t fret! The wet and cold weather ensures that there is no chance of creep, our beloved forest is safe.
