strategic conservation plan

We believe that strategic, local conservation can make a difference on a scale that transcends organizational, political, and even ecological boundaries.

This plan will help not only to identify the most valuable resources within our service area, but also to think about conservation through the lens of connectivity and collaboration. It will help focus efforts to link protected lands and make a difference for a whole landscape, community, watershed, or even ecosystem.

With a strategic conservation plan, we may be able to protect more land because we can be more focused and proactive. The National Land Trust Census shows that land trusts with a strategic conservation plan save twice as much land, on average, as land trusts without one.

With a staff of three, and a service area of 12 million acres over 8 counties, careful and strategic prioritization of our most vital natural resources is a critical step in expanding organizational impact and protecting more of the lands and waters that mean the most.
